It is almost 80 years since the founding of the Fron Choir to compete in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, itself founded in 1947. You will find more information about the choir and its illustrious history here.
We welcome visitors to our rehearsals. You would be most welcome to join us on a Monday or Thursday evening. Please let us know if you would like to attend here. We look forward to welcoming you.
It is with great sadness that we said farewell to our beloved Deputy Musical Director, Owen Maelor Roberts, who passed away on 18th November 2025 at the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham.
Owen was a very important part of our lives in the Fron, always there, always listening and ready to correct, always naturally musical with a terrific vocal range and a talent for arranging. We are so indebted to him and will be singing his arrangements for many years to come.
He had such a wonderful sense of humour and the most wonderful laugh that always made the rest of any group join in. His enthusiasm was infectious too and his quiet but extremely sharp wit would always hit its target with a smile that no-one could begrudge, despite the sting!
Owen was a cornerstone of the choir, supporting us through international tours, concerts and the celebrated Voices of the Valley recording era. His quiet leadership, musicianship and mentorship were invaluable to countless choristers over many years.
He was an intrepid walker with the ramblers and I’m sure will be much missed by them, but it is as a giant in the musical life of Northeast Wales and beyond that he will be remembered. We all know him from the Fron but his influence and talent were generously given to far more than just our choir. He taught, conducted, arranged, played and accompanied all over the area, for soloists and choirs alike.
He is dearly missed.

We are very proud that our latest album, VOICES OF THE VALLEY - ECHOES, carries on the standard and values of the previous VOICES OF THE VALLEY recordings. It is full of new arrangements of audience favourites from our concert repertoire plus a couple of songs new to the choir. ECHOES was recorded at the same recording studio, with the same production team, including producer Jon Cohen. The Virtual Fron
During lockdown we produced a series of 'At Home With The Fron' virtual, video concerts and some virtual choir pieces.
As a choir, we would like to show our support for the people of Ukraine during this humanitarian crisis and we appeal to Russia to end its violent campaign in the country.
